I have always adviced that as a learner driver you need to check your driving instructor is legal, not only to make sure you are not breaking the law by aiding/abbeting a criminal offence but also to safeguard yourself and your money if you are paying for block driving lessons in advance. This is very easy to do by having a look at the instructor's ADI badge on the first meeting and making sure it is currently valid and shows the picture of the person teaching you and not someone else.
If the instructor can not produce the registration certificate (which needs to be displayed every time they are giving a paid lesson) you can refuse to pay for any services already offered (I would dare them to call the police). Read the story below, to see how this simple step can save you a lot of heartache.
instructor disappears with student's money!
It is surprising how easily people trust someone who turns up in a car with a roof sign or 'L' plates.
If you have any problems with a driving instructor taking your money and not giving lessons or disappearing read the DSA advice on what to do.
If you require high quality driving lessons from a very helpful, patient and fully qualified instructor, then why not call or send me a text message on 07956233032
Thinking about becoming an instructor? Don't just make a decision based on the red driving school marketing material you see as shown by the link and story above, do the proper research and know all the ADI training options available to you.
