Driving Test How many first time pass

How many people pass driving test first time?

This question about the driving test pass rate and those that achieve success on their first attempt is a very common question that is in the mind of every UK learner driver.

The answer is very simple, you will pass the driving test on the first attempt if you are fully prepared and demonstrate to the dsa examiner during the drive that you are a safe, and possess the necessary skills to be allowed to drive a car unsupervised in the UK.

Many people who have attempted the driving test and failed either blame the DSA examiner for being too harsh or say they failed because of driving test quotas! The truth is unless you give an examiner the excuse for failing you, they can not fail you. If your driving skills are just about at bordeline test standard, then you aren't leaving yourself room for error. You need to know what the examiners expect on the driving test, be able to do it every time you are asked to do it, then you will pass first time. It does not matter whether you are male or female, boy or girl or what driving test centre you use, if you can perform any of the set exercises properly and at the DSA standard, can tick all the boxes on the drivers record with a 5, and have had enough practice on various roads at various times of the day, then you will pass the test first time.

Whether you agree with the DSA or not, the key to passing the driving test is give the examiner what they are looking for, and they will not fail you. But I berely touched the kerb while doing the turn in the road, and I know of someone who touched the kerb during their test and passed! The instruction you were given was 'turn the car round to face the opposite direction using forward and reverse gears without touching the kerb', if you did that safely, under control, then you can't be faulted. If you "touched" the kerb, you have created a point of doubt. Your "touched the kerb" could be a "hit the kerb" as far as the DSA examniner is concerned. I'm not defending the examiner, all I'm saying is don't give the examiner any excuse! If they want a turn in the road, give them a perfect turn in the road according to their standard!

There are people who pass the driving test with no driving faults at all, zero minors, a perfect drive. The only way you can do that is by practice, practise and practise, until you can do it if woken up in the middle of the night.

The DSA examiners are not perfect, they are humans, and thus they could make a mistake, but if you are fully prepared for the test, know exactly what is required, and have had enough practice, then there is no reason why you shouldn't pass the driving test first time or on your next attempt.

If you were taught to drive by someone who is not a driving instructor, or you hold a foreign licence and are serious about pass the driving test at the first attempt, I suggest you get your driving assessed by a current approved driving instructor (ADI) to confirm that your driving is at the current DSA standard!

I do not agree with your comment..I have been failed by Mill Hill Examiner and when I asked to examiner - if you would have been at my place what you would have done in this situation for which you are failing me. Asnwer was - I would have done the same as you have done but as a learner driver you do not suppose to do this where as I am experienced driver so I can do this.

Yes - You think you can control your car to the extent of an experienced driver? To get through your test you need to show that what you do is DSA standard and safe to the point that it's almost not funny.

I passed first time (9 minors) and I'm 17. I could have driven like an experienced driver and would have failed. You pass your test THEN learn how to drive.

Its all down to the day and your driving standard. I passed my test first time with 4 minors all to do with speed.
