In a previous driving article, I gave some advice to foreign driving licence holders on the best way of going about passing the UK driving test first time and getting a full British license.
In this video clip, a foreign licence holder from India who followed my advice and passed first time after having some driving lessons in Kingsbury with me shares his views on the process.

Joining a motorway video
Since motorway driving is not covered in the UK driving test, here is a video clip showing how to join the motorway.
You can always have a motorway lesson with a driving instructor to boost your confidence. If you take a pass plus course, then motorway driving is one of the modules.
Driving test effective observations
Driving Test Tip - Look before moving off
A pupil of mine today failed his driving test with the DSA examiner DL25 report sheet having recorded 7 driving errors, 2 of them serious, and they both pertained to not taking effective observations. One was while moving off, the other was at a junction.
It is very important that you look all around POM (6 point vehicle check), and also take effective observations at junctions during the DSA driving test if you want to pass and not fail. While it is good to avoid undue hesitation during the practical car assessment, you MUST make sure everything you do is safe.

Meeting traffic on driving test
Here is some information to help with meeting traffic during the driving test.
The key things to remember about meeting traffic are:
1. Recognise the situation where you might be meeting traffic (narrow roads).
2. Look down the road for gaps, either on the left for you to use, or on the right that you can stop opposite for oncoming cars.
3. Keep your speed slow and do not force your way through, especially if you are meeting large traffic.

Learning to Drive - Step by Step
Step by Step Instructions Gear Change
It is amazing how when you start learning to drive everything seems so hard, and you need to be given step by step instructions to change a gear when learning to drive a car! Remember how difficult it was to change from first to second gear.
This learner has now passed this hurdle, and doesn't need step by step instructions to change gears. So don't allow a bad lesson get to you or give up because you are finding a particular skill difficult while learning to drive!
