Free Driving Lesson Sept 16th 2009.
In a previous post, I provided some information on the Mill Hill test centre, to help those not familiar with this area of North West London.
This instructional video is a supplement to that post, and has additional information, including an important tip about the Apex corner roundabout which should prove very useful if you get this busy junction on the Mill test route.
For manual driving lessons in the Mill Hill and surrounding areas of NW London, give me a call on 07956233032

Driving Lesson Video - Overtaking
The most overtaking you would probabily do for the uk driving test is passing stationary vehicles, or if you are lucky, a milk float.
I would advise that drivers get some post test tuition on overtaking particularly on country roads and preferable not from the guys in this video.
Download this overtaking video clip to your portable device.
If you are interested in affordable good quality driving lessons from a patient, honest and reliable instructor with options to record your lessons on DVD for review at home for free, give me a call on 07956233032. I offer manual tuition in the NW London area, using Mill Hill, Hendon, Borehamwood and Barnet driving test centres.
Hendon driving test centre
Here is some information about Hendon driving test centre, one of the centres that I use for my pupil's driving tests.
Over the years that I have been an ADI, I have noticed that the Hendon driving examiners are very helpful and relaxed, and this is probably one of the reasons it has a higher pass rate than Mill Hill. Now don't think that you wouln't fail the test at this centre in Aviation Squsre, Beaufort Park, NW9 if you are not at the standard, you will. If you are however a nervous driver, you will be put at ease by the examiners.

If you require Driving Lessons in Hendon, then I'm the instructor to contact, and would love help you pass your driving test either at this centre or the nearby Mill Hill DSA test centre, give me a call on 07956233032, manual driving tuition is currently £25 per hour.
The telephone number to use for this test centre if you have a date with a driving examiner is on the appoinment letter you were sent confirming your driving test, and the number should only be used to call on the day to confirm there are no late DSA cancellations due to weather problems. If there are cancellations, you will not lose your fee, and don't need to re-book your driving test as this will automaticaly be done for you but you won't be able to claim any compensation for tests cancelled due to bad weather or un-safe road conditions.

Driving Test tip - Use the Handbrake
Here is a useful driving test tip you should observe during the UK dsa car test, you should use the handbrake if you stop, and there is a slight chance that the car will roll back or forward. Failure to do so could end up with you getting a driving error, and if this is a serious error, then you would have failed the dsa practical car assessment, and would need another attempt to get that full british licence. This video of a learner driver car shows you the reason why using the handbrake is very important during the driving test.
I also advice using the handbake during driving manoeuvres like the turn in the road, 3 point turn, bay parking and reverse round the corner , as it keeps you safe by not allowing the car to roll out of control. The DSA examiner will not penalise you for not using the parking brake during a parallel parking maneuver as long as you remain in control of the car, but the extra few seconds it takes shouldn't stop you from doing so.

Provisional driving licence, points, and test
Recently I have been getting a lot of queries about penalty points on learner's provisional licences and how it affects their ability to take the UK driving test.
First of all I'm amazed at the number of learner drivers who have points on their provisional licences, and I begin to wonder what their supervising drivers where doing (or maybe they were not being supervised)! You should be aware that if you are supervising a learner driver, and he/she breaks the law, that you could also be prosecuted for aiding and abetting.
Back to the question about points on provisional licences and the driving test, here are some facts you need to know.
1. Any points added to your provisional licence will stay on for a minimum of 4 years.
2. There is no driving course or any other means of getting points off your licence, they can only be removed after the statutory time has expired.
3. Points are not automatically removed from licences, you have to apply to the DVLA and pay a fee for the points to be removed.
4. Points on your licence will not stop you from taking the driving test, but if you have more than 6 points on your provisional licence, then are not allowed any more offences or your licence will be revoked under the new drivers act! The DVLA, will automatically contact you via a letter advising that you are once again a learner and need to pass the driving test again.
5. 12 points or more on any UK driving licence means a ban.
6. Points on driving licence usually results in higher insurance premiums
So for all you provisional driving licence holders out there, drive carefully, don't break the law otherwise it is going to cost you in time and money to get your full driving licence.
